Bongo Life – Isle of Sheppey
Bongo Life – Isle of Sheppey

Friday 27 September 2019

We have owned Bianca Bongo for just over two weeks now and have been itching to spend the night out in her. Unfortunately, we had a bunch of pre-arranged commitments preventing us from getting away but this evening we have managed to sneak out!

North Downs Way – Cuxton to Wrotham
North Downs Way – Cuxton to Wrotham

Sunday 31 March 2019

Not long after my previous adventure on the North Downs Way, I had the opportunity to do another section while everyone else was out for the day.

Egypt Bay from High Halstow Circular

Egypt Bay. Sounds exotic, distant, possibly even fictitious. A make-believe location in an imaginary land far, far away.

Backpacking on the North Downs Way – Thurnham to Wye
Backpacking on the North Downs Way – Thurnham to Wye

Sunday 17 March 2019

I woke a few times during the night. Every couple of hours or so the wind would really hit the tent and the roar of the wind and sound of the fabric going taught would wake me up. I am pleased to say that the tent didn’t flex or shake and seemed very stable. I would look at the time on my phone and just roll over and go back to sleep. I seem to know when I still have some sleep left in me and when I don’t.

Saturday 16 March 2019

Backpacking in the South East of England is not a particularly easy pastime especially if you want to walk for several days at a time and camp at the end of each day. There are very few campsites where you need them to be and most of them do not really cater for the one night backpacker anyway.

Wye to Canterbury on the North Downs Way

Monday 28 May 2018

Ijust wanted to walk. The weather was looking good and it seemed as though I would have a spare day with nothing in particular planned and nowhere in particular to be. So, I thought I would go for a walk.

Dengie Peninsula Circular
Dengie Peninsula Circular

Sunday 22 April 2018

I have to admit that this was one of those walks that I knew absolutely nothing about beforehand other than the date. I had never heard of the “Dengie Peninsula”, did not know where it was and was relying on Google Maps to get us there and even Google struggled!

Stour Valley Walk – Canterbury to Sandwich
Stour Valley Walk – Canterbury to Sandwich

Monday 28 August 2017

I left the Kipps hostel at around 8:00 am. The sun was already shining and it looked like it was going to be another very hot day. With another 20 miles to go to get to Sandwich, I had made sure my water bottle was full but in my rush to leave early I forgot to take my malt loaf from the fridge in the kitchen.

Stour Valley Walk – Ashford to Canterbury
Stour Valley Walk – Ashford to Canterbury

Sunday 27 August 2017

I knew this would be a big day and so I made an early start and headed back to Ashford International Station and back on the Stour Valley Walk path. It followed the river briefly before having to walk along the A292 before taking an alley up and over the M20 but you eventually leave the urban area behind and hit the country lanes and fields.

Are you tired of being stuck in the office? Bored of being chained to a desk? Counting down the days until retirement?
Me too!!
