Bianca Bongo had performed wonderfully on our European adventure, so we wanted to give her a little treat. We booked Bianca in for some anti-rust treatment at a place in the Midlands and, wanting to make the most of it; we arranged to meet a friend and do a little walk in the Malvern Hills while we were there.

“Steeple?” said one of our friends. “Why Steeple? There is nothing there!”

This weekend we were in Essex again. We were lucky enough to get a pitch on a fantastic campsite and meet up with our friend, Sioban, for a walk in the beautiful Essex countryside.

Sunday 12 July 2020

We needed to get out in the Bongo but didn’t want to travel too far with all of the lockdown restrictions. Quite by chance, I saw a post on a Facebook group one evening, and after a brief exchange of messages on Facebook, I had managed to book us on to a campsite that I had never heard of before located in a part of Essex I had never heard of before.

Socially Distant in Shoreham

Saturday 20 June 2020

Like many, we have not walked for months. During the ‘lock-down’, imposed as a result of coronavirus, we managed to walk around the local estate for an hour a day for exercise and, on one occasion, we even managed a six-mile walk to a small village next to us. But these were not ‘proper’ walks.

Minster to Sheerness

Sunday 26 January 2020

A drive out to Minster in the Bongo is not as bad as some might think. I am not entirely sure what this stigma is with the Isle of Sheppey, not being a local, but I find Minster quite a nice place to park up and stroll along the coast a little.

Waterproof socks are not new. They have been around for ages. For some reason, I can’t quite recall; they just never made it on to my kit list.

Mud Ado About Hadham
Mud Ado About Hadham

Sunday 12 January 2020

Much Hadham is a small quintessentially English village in the Hertfordshire countryside that is slightly west of Stanstead Airport and perhaps, more importantly, the starting point of the first Team South East walk of 2020.

Walk off the Mince Pies
Walk off the Mince Pies

Saturday 28 December 2019

Each year there is an annual “walk off the mince pies” walk in the Snowdonia National Park organised by the Walking For Pleasure Facebook group. This year the walk started in Llanberis and took in Moel Eilio (726m), Foel Gron (629m), Foel Goch (605m) and Moel Cynghorion (674m) and Susan, and I decided we would do it!
