Today I spent the morning sorting through some gear that no longer
fits me and some equipment that I no longer use. I plan to sell these
items to raise money to buy new gear for our forthcoming adventures.
I did the same last year using the Facebook group Outdoor Gear
Exchange UK and managed to sell three waterproofs, one down jacket, four
pairs of trousers and a handful of shirts. This funded a new rucksack
and a new stove which were put to use immediately unlike the items I had
sold that were languishing in cupboards around the house.
The basic rule of Outdoor Gear Exchange UK is that you sell your
items commission free and then make a donation to an MRT of your choice.
I find this a better option than eBay because instead of the commission
being paid to huge companies as profit you, the seller, can decide where
your money goes. Everyone, except for the large company, is a
winner!
Already I have identified a tent, a sleeping bag, a pair of trousers
and a jacket that I hope to sell this year on the Outdoor Gear Exchange
UK and I am sure there will be more when I start looking.
If you are thinking about selling or buying on eBay then I strongly
suggest you take a look at Outdoor Gear Exchange UK first.
