After a comfortable night in the Bongo on the Isle of Sheppey, Susan
and I made our way over to Queenborough to do a little exploring. It was
my first time on Sheppey and I was finding the whole area
fascinating.
After Queenborough, we made our way around the coast to Sheerness and
then on to Minster where we found a nice car park with sea views. The
perfect place for tea and cake!
Our main aim for the day was to end up at Offham, West Malling.
Susan’s work colleagues had booked us a night in a ‘Pod’ as a wedding
gift at Orchard Pods. Today was the first free day in our calendar that
we could make use of this wonderful gift.
Our pod was nestled between two rows of cherry trees in an orchard
and as we approached, it seemed to me, to have an enchanting, hobbity
feel to it.
Inside the pod, there was a sofa, a small kitchen/dining area, a
toilet, a shower and a bed. Everything you need in a small, compact
unit.
It was great!
Fearing that it might rain, we decided not to go too far and just
explore the grounds of the orchard. There are plenty of options for
walking in the area and both the Wealdway and North Downs Way are not
that far if you are looking for a bit of luxury while walking either of
these long-distance paths.
The rain did eventually arrive and with a vengeance, scuppering our
plan for the evening which was to sit outside of the pod and make full
use of the fire pit and wood provided.
Susan and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the pod and would love to
do it again sometime. The obvious choice is to book a night during the
summer but I quite like the idea of staying in a pod during the winter
where there is snow on the ground!
